Community Involvement

I have always believed that every citizen owes an obligation to give back to his or her community. Over the last 45 years, I have been actively involved in my community. I was the founder and Executive Officer of Mobile Community Organization which provided professional staff and guidance for many Mobile neighborhoods to solve their varied problems. I served on the Executive Committee of the Girl Scout Council, I served as an active member of Mobile United to discuss various problems of the community, I was twice elected as a member of Outstanding Young Men of America, I was chosen to participate in Leadership Mobile, I served as President of the local Alumni Association of my law school, I served as the class representative for approximately 30 years of my college class, and served two terms on the Board of Trustees of my college, I have served on the campaign leadership of various Presidential, State Supreme Court, Circuit Court and Mayoral political campaigns, I served on the Mobile County Democratic Executive Committee, I have served as the President of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Public Library, of Playhouse in the Park, of The Crescent Film Society, and have served on various charitable fund-raising organizations, throughout Mobile County. In addition to helping the less fortunate, I have gained invaluable administrative and executive experience, and further developed my organizational and leadership skills which help me represent clients, on a daily basis. I have donated over 11 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross, over the last 40 years, and was actively involved in community aid after Hurricane Katrina.

I have served as committee chairman, Newsletter Editor, Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. I have served as committee chairman and Executive Committee of the Mobile Bar Association. I served on the Board of Governors of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association. I am actively involved and have served on the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Lawyer Program of the Mobile Bar Association.

I am committed to helping my fellow man, both in my professional and in my personal life.

I have been actively involved in all levels of my church, both as parish Committee Chairman, Executive Committee of my parish, Committee Chairman of the Diocese, and an active Sunday School teacher.

I was elected 2010 Art Patron of the Year by Mobile Allied Arts Council, and regularly contribute to the artistic and cultural opportunities provided to the Mobile community.

The Mobile community has been very supportive to me and to my family, for the last 150 years, and I am committed to repaying that support.

Personally, I have been married for over 30 years, and our son and daughter are both grown.
