CIVIL CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES

FLOODWATER DAMAGE CLAIMS:

I probably have handled over 100 cases recovering substantial damages caused by stormwater flooding. I have filed claims against various municipalities and counties in Southwest Alabama, and have recovered substantial damages in each. These type cases are often considered “complex litigation”, as it may involve damages for 50 to 100 residents against a single public authority. In fact, many of my cases have established the existing law in Alabama on damages caused by stormwater flooding.

SEWAGE OVERFLOW CLAIMS:

I probably have handled over 100 cases recovering substantial damages caused by sewage overflow onto private property, against various sewer boards, recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars of damages. These are also often “complex litigation,” as cases usually involve a whole neighborhood. In fact, my cases on damages caused by sewer overflows are the existing laws of the State of Alabama on that topic.

OTHER CIVIL DAMAGE CLAIMS:

I have litigated many cases on various types of disputes representing a contractor against a homeowner and a homeowner against a contractor and I have recovered substantial damages on many claims for negligence death, especially in vehicular accidents, as well as intentional death by murder, recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages in each.

DOMESTIC RELATIONS:

I probably have litigated 1,000 divorce cases, across Alabama, recovering substantial and exemplary and extra-ordinary awards of child support, alimony, recovering child support and alimony arrears, and have represented parents in bloody custody cases and cases to prevent the removal of children from Mobile County. I represent both a mother against a father and a father against a mother in contested paternity actions and helped write the statutes of Alabama on calculations of child support. I developed computer software to calculate post-judgment interest on alimony and child support arrears which is now used across the country in collecting interest on delinquent child support payments. I have presented dozens of Continuing Legal Education papers across the Eastern half of the country on various aspects of domestic relations practice. The cases that I have won on appeal have been used as legal authorities in the practice of Domestic Relations law, and I have been voted by my peers as one of the BEST LAWYERS IN AMERICA, for several years.

PROBATE PRACTICE:

As a service to my clients, I prepare estate planning documents and give advice on personal estate planning. I probably have handled over 50 estates, both including Wills and without Wills, have handled dozens of conservatorships, through my 35 years of practice.

DIVISION OF LANDS:

I have handled dozens of actions to divide land among heirs or to sell land for division of the sales proceeds among the owning heirs and, in fact, my cases before the Supreme Court are often cited as legal authorities on that topic.
